We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled manager to lead the engineering function at a busy manufacturing site midway between Eye and Diss on the Suffolk/Norfolk borders.
In this role, you will be the driving force behind plant availability, ensuring that all machinery operates at peak performance while maintaining the highest safety standards.
As the link between production and site leadership, you will manage a dedicated engineering team, oversee contractors, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimise downtime.
What You'll Be Doing Managing a team of 1-3 direct reports, providing coaching and professional development.
Developing, implementing, and monitoring site-wide Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
Coordinating mechanical and electrical engineering responses to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
Analysing breakdown data to identify root causes and implement long-term corrective actions.
Managing engineering budgets, critical spares stock levels, and external contractors.
What You Need A time-served Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification e. g.
HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Significant experience working within a heavy manufacturing environment.
Strong fault-finding capabilities across both mechanical and electrical systems.
Proven experience in leading or managing engineering teams.
The ability to utilise a data-led approach for decision-making and stock control.
