What you'll be doing

You will be a core part of the Human Resources team helping to deliver a top-quality service to every colleague at Tozers. From entering and amending information on our HR information system to contacting applicants for our vacancies via our applicant tracking system, you will play a crucial role in keeping information confidential, accurate and up to date. You will answer basic queries, undertake inductions for new joiners in the absence of the Senior HR Adviser, as well as provide assistance with the administration of all aspects of learning and development.

Your working hours will generally be 8.45 am to 5.00 pm, but there will be occasions where amended working hours will be required to cover periods of annual leave within the team. The role will be predominantly based in our Exeter office, with occasional remote working and travel to our Teignmouth and Newton Abbot offices.

What we're looking for

We are looking for an empathetic, detail-oriented HR Administrator with strong Excel skills to join our team. As a trusted point of contact across the organisation, you will combine exceptional interpersonal skills with absolute discretion when handling sensitive data. We need a resilient, approachable communicator who actively listens, delivers excellent customer service, and builds trust across every level of the business.

We welcome applications from anyone who can demonstrate the above. You may be looking for an apprenticeship to start in the next academic year, have completed your CIPD Level 3 and are looking for your first role in a supportive HR team, or you're looking for a role in a team where your organisational and administrative skills will shine, but whatever your story, you will be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in HR work.

As part of our interview process, in addition to meeting our candidates in person, we will be asking everyone to complete some practical assessments which may include a written and IT task. All candidates will have the opportunity to let us know if they require any adjustments to complete the whole interview process. Please note that interviews for this role will be held week commencing 21 September 2026.

What you'll have

It is essential that you have experience of using Excel, as this role requires creating and maintaining databases of compliance information. You will be confident in making holiday and salary calculations, and your written skills will be excellent because much of your communication will be done via email. Detail-oriented, you will understand the need for accuracy and checking your own work. You may also have some experience of using an applicant tracking system, DocuSign or an HR information management system.

Our values: high quality work, healthy growth and happy teams are at the heart of everything we do. Find out more about our vision and values, commitment to colleague wellbeing, and colleague benefits on our website.
