Site Technician - Structural and Load Testing
Are you a practical, technically minded engineer or technician who enjoys getting out on site, solving problems and working on something different from one project to the next?
This is a varied, hands-on position where youll travel to customer sites to set up specialist equipment, carry out structural and load testing, record and analyse results, troubleshoot technical issues and produce accurate test documentation.
While previous load or structural testing experience would be advantageous, relevant practical engineering and site experience is highly valued too . Familiarisation and internal training will be provided to the right candidate, including training on specialist testing equipment, procedures and the standards required to undertake testing correctly.

SALARY: Β£30,000 - Β£35,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) plus overtime + Benefits
LOCATION: Predominantly site-based, travelling nationwide, with a small percentage of work carried out in the Laboratory in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, North West England (CH66) ideally you will be within a commutable distance of Ellesmere Port (no relocation package available)
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: Minimum 37.5 Hours per week - 4 Month Minimum Probation Period Required
KEY REQUIREMENTS: Candidates MUST have a full and valid UK Driving Licence (6 points or less - no active convictions)
JOB OVERVIEW
This is an exciting opportunity for a Site Technician to join a small growing organisation delivering specialist testing and site-based engineering services.
As Site Technician the variety of work is a major part of the opportunity. Projects are undertaken both on-site and within the Ellesmere Port testing laboratory, supporting an impressive client base that includes top-tier construction companies, Premier League football clubs and major names within the leisure and retail sectors.
The Site Technician will prepare testing equipment, install temporary systems, record and analyse test data, produce documentation to a high standard and help ensure work is completed safely and efficiently, with your assigned team.
DUTIES
Some of your duties as the Site Technician include (but not limited to):
Testing Operations: Carry out on-site load testing and structural testing across engineering, construction, retail and leisure projects
Site Equipment Setup: Install, assemble and prepare testing equipment, temporary systems and monitoring devices
Testing Support: Lead product testing, commissioning activities and engineering inspections on site and in laboratory environments
Technical Reporting: Record, analyse and document factual test results, and prepare technical reports for onward submission to client in a timely manner
Fault Finding: Identify equipment issues and support troubleshooting and corrective actions during testing work
Client Liaison: Communicate with clients and site teams to support professional and efficient project delivery
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, inspect and service testing equipment to support operational readiness and compliance
Health and Safety Compliance: Follow company procedures, RAMS and site safety regulations at all times
Documentation and Records: Complete accurate site records, test documentation and daily activity logs
Team Support: Work with other technicians, and subcontractors to support successful project delivery
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Ideal candidates will have practical, hands-on engineering experience. You do not necessarily need to have worked with the exact testing methods or equipment before, as familiarisation and internal training will be provided.
Essential
Previous practical experience within load testing, structural testing, field service engineering, site engineering, testing, commissioning or another relevant engineering support environment
Experience working with technical equipment and undertaking fault finding or practical problem solving
Good understanding of health and safety procedures within construction, engineering or industrial environments
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to work independently, collaboratively and lead within a team
Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points and no active convictions
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Willingness to travel nationwide, work flexible hours and stay away when required, including at relatively short notice
GCSEs in English, Mathematics and Science
Desirable
NVQ Level 3 in Construction or Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification
CSCS Card
Experience supporting projects across multiple UK sites
Knowledge of structural, mechanical or electrical engineering principles
