A well established engineering business in Fife is looking for a Management Accountant to take ownership of its day to day accounting, reporting and business partnering. This is a genuine chance to make the role your own within a busy finance function, with real visibility to the General Manager and the Board.

You would be joining a company with a long history in industrial engineering, known for the quality of its work and the strength of its team. The finance function here is well established, but there is scope to bring fresh ideas, tighten processes and shape how the business understands its numbers. It is a broad, hands on role that suits someone who wants exposure across the full finance function rather than a narrow, siloed remit.

What you would be doing:

  • Producing monthly management accounts and a Board report with full variance analysis
  • Managing accruals, prepayments and journals, including contract revenue and deferred income
  • Overseeing the sales and purchase ledgers, plus a weekly cash flow forecast
  • Interrogating the ERP system to support contract reviews and margin performance
  • Preparing budgets, forecasts and quarterly VAT submissions
  • Working closely with external auditors and tax advisers at year end, and overseeing payroll alongside HR

What you would bring:

  • A professional accounting qualification, ACA, ICAS, CIMA or ACCA, qualified or part qualified
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of contract accounting, including stock and work in progress valuation
  • Confidence working with an ERP system and strong Excel skills
  • A sharp eye for detail, backed up by genuine analytical ability
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable working across finance and operational teams

This is a business that values accuracy and initiative in equal measure, and it shows in how much ownership this role carries. Rather than being confined to one narrow function, you would be across the full accounting cycle and trusted to bring insight to the table, not just numbers. It is a role where good work gets noticed, and where the finance function has a genuine seat at the table when it comes to business decisions.
