Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Machinist with a strong turning background to join our busy and expanding Machine Shop team in Dudley.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer who enjoys working with precision components, solving technical challenges, and contributing to a high-quality manufacturing environment.
As our Machinist you will be reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for producing high-quality machined components from raw materials using a variety of machining processes.
The successful candidate will have experience setting up, operating, programming and proving CNC machinery, with particular emphasis on turning operations.
Experience with Proto TRAK XYZ and Siemens controls is highly desirable.
As our Machinist you will: Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and CNC programmes.
Set up, operate and adjust machine tools to produce components to specification.
Create, prove and edit CNC programmes where required.
Measure and inspect completed components using appropriate measuring equipment.
Make adjustments to machinery and programmes to ensure quality standards are met.
Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
Support workshop activities relating to quality, health & safety and environmental standards.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in solving engineering and manufacturing challenges.
Ensure all relevant documentation, drawings and quality records are completed and maintained.
About You We're looking for a motivated machinist who can demonstrate: Proven machining experience with a strong bias towards turning.
Experience working with CNC machine tools.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Strong understanding of machining principles including speeds, feeds, angles, tapers and material removal.
Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
Knowledge of common engineering materials and their machining characteristics.
Ability to work from instruction as well as using your own initiative.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
It would be great if you had: Experience using Proto TRAK XYZ controls.
Experience with Siemens-controlled machinery.
Health & Safety, Quality or Environmental training.
Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or related manufacturing background.
