Responsibilities and duties of the Project Manager role
Reporting to the Head of Delivery you will:
- Lead complex technical projects from concept and development through to test and acceptance.
- Define project structures, work breakdowns, programmes and delivery teams.
- Manage project budgets, timescales, milestones, risks and opportunities.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Manage key customer and stakeholder relationships, including senior Government, Navy and industry representatives.
- Ensure effective risk, quality, security, configuration and change management.
- Manage contracts to ensure delivery remains aligned with business and customer objectives.
- Lead customer and supplier negotiations and support commercial management.
- Represent the project externally and provide clear reporting to senior management.
- Contribute to bids, developing project plans, risks, work packages and delivery strategies.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Proven experience successfully delivering complex technical projects.
- Strong project management and commercial awareness.
- Experience managing significant-value projects to challenging deadlines and requirements.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree educated in a relevant STEM discipline would be advantageous.
- Membership of a recognised project management body such as APM would be desirable, but is not essential.
- Defence experience, particularly within the maritime or underwater domain, would be highly advantageous.
- Full SC Security Clearance required - candidates must be eligible to obtain this.
