About the role
As a Management Accountant, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information that supports business decision-making. Working closely with the Lead Management Accountant, you'll be responsible for producing management accounts, completing month-end activities, and ensuring the integrity of financial records across multiple entities. You'll collaborate with Finance and wider business teams, lead and develop a Management Accounts Assistant, and act as the key finance contact for manufacturing accounting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with business partnering, process improvement, and continuous development.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts for two trading entities, working closely with the Lead Management Accountant.
- Completing month-end activities, including journals, reconciliations and control account reviews, to ensure accurate and robust financial reporting.
- Leading, coaching and developing a Management Accounts Assistant, providing guidance and support in their day-to-day activities.
- Building strong relationships with Commercial Finance, Accounts Payable and other stakeholders to ensure financial information accurately reflects business activity.
- Acting as the key Management Accounts contact for manufacturing, providing expertise and support on accounting processes.
- Taking ownership of designated areas of the management accounts across the DFS entity, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Reconciling key balance sheet accounts across the Group and investigating any variances.
- Supporting the preparation of the weekly cashflow forecast, providing cover when required.
- Maintaining clear and up-to-date process documentation to support robust financial controls and knowledge sharing.
- Contributing to ad hoc financial analysis, reporting and continuous improvement projects that help drive business performance.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Part-qualified (or nearing qualification) in CIMA, ACCA or ACA. An Accounting & Finance degree or AAT qualification would be advantageous (study support available).
- At least two years' experience in an accounting or finance role, with exposure to management accounting and month-end processes.
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills, with the ability to analyse data and produce meaningful financial insights.
- Excellent analytical skills and a keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy across financial reporting.
- The ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the business.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to work independently while collaborating as part of a wider Management Accounts team.
- Experience producing and maintaining clear process documentation to support strong financial controls and consistency.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing business would be advantageous but is not essential.
Don't let it discourage you if you don't have all of this experience, it's a guideline that will help you hit the ground running. If the role sounds like it would be a great fit for you and you're confident that it suits you, we'd love you to apply.
