People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our well-established client based in Daventry, Northamptonshire .

This position is ideal for applicants looking for a role as a LGV Class 1 Driver , CE Driver or Articulated Lorry Driver .

    Day-to-Day Duties
    As an HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):
  • Shunting 45ft and double-deck trailers onto allocated bays
  • Operating and manoeuvring Class 1 vehicles safely and efficiently within the yard
  • Completing daily yard and vehicle checks in line with site rules and health & safety guidelines
  • Ensuring all trailers and loads are positioned and secured correctly
  • Adhering to traffic laws, site regulations, and company procedures
  • Communicating effectively with transport and warehouse teams (radio use is essential)
  • Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements promptly
    Essential Skills
    As an HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver, you will need:
  • Minimum of one year's Class 1 driving, shunting, and TUG experience
  • Valid UK Category C+E Licence
  • No more than six penalty points for minor infringements (no major endorsements)
  • Valid UK CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
  • Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
  • Good understanding of UK traffic laws and regulations
  • Strong communication skills
    Desirable Experience
  • Experience working within a fast-paced yard or logistics environment
    Training Provided
  • Driver assessment required prior to start
  • Ongoing industry-related training and support
