Machine Tool Fitter
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 07:30 - 16:00; Friday, 07:30 - 15:00 Travel: Some overseas travel required The Opportunity An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Multi-Skilled Machine Tool Fitter to join a well-established precision machine tool manufacturer in Coventry.
The role involves building and assembling complex, high-precision machine tools, with responsibilities covering mechanical fitting, hydraulics, pneumatics, machine wiring and general toolroom work.
Some customer visits and overseas travel will also be required.
The Role Your responsibilities will include: Building and assembling complex machine tools from engineering and assembly drawings.
Installing, maintaining and repairing mechanical systems and components.
Precision fitting of bearings and assembling components to tight tolerances.
Hand scraping mating faces to achieve the correct alignment and fit.
Completing drilling, tapping and general sub-assembly work.
Installing, testing and calibrating pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Fitting machine pipework, cabling, switches, sensors and motors.
Completing sheet metal cutting and general fitting tasks.
Using toolroom machinery, including lathes, mills and grinders.
Operating lifting equipment, including overhead cranes and slings.
Carrying out customer service visits when required.
About You The successful candidate will have: Ideally, at least four years' experience in machine tool building or complex mechanical assembly.
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Experience working to tight tolerances within a precision engineering environment.
Strong mechanical fitting and assembly skills.
Good problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good time-management skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
A full driving licence.
A forklift licence would be desirable but is not essential.
