About the role

We have a new opportunity for a Construction, Design and Quality Manager to join the Guinness Team. This is a permanent, full-time vacancy based in one of the following offices: London, Bristol, Crewe or Oldham. We offer hybrid working, blending office days with working from home. The overall purpose of the role is to provide technical leadership for the design, construction and delivery of high quality reactive planned works to existing built assets from inception through to completion.

What we are looking for

  • You will drive excellence across a portfolio of reactive planned works by leading a high-performing team responsible for project management, on-site technical expertise, and quality assurance.
  • You will ensure full compliance with Guinness policies and statutory requirements, providing authoritative guidance on design, specification, health and safety, and legal matters.
  • Act as a senior representative across internal liaison groups and external agencies, building strong partnerships and championing continuous improvement.
  • Oversee adherence to Construction Design & Quality (CDQ) standards, signing off key gateway stages and supporting the effective appointment and performance management of consultants and contractors.
  • Resource and programme planning for a national portfolio of projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget.

You will be able to demonstrate these essential skills:

  • Experience of leading, performance managing and motivating remote teams, in a high performance culture.
  • Proven experience of managing the contracts and operational performance of the Development supply chain including setting and achieving challenging targets.
  • Ability to maximise, utilise and embed the use of new technologies, including mobile technology and ways of working.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction standards, regulations and legislation, including Health and Safety and proven experience of managing these at a senior level.
  • Excellent, up-to-date, practical knowledge and experience of construction processes.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise way to senior management, enabling effective decision making.
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex budgets.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrates the Guinness Behaviours.
  • Demonstrates the Guinness Leadership and Management Standard.

Desirable skills:

  • Good knowledge and experience of non-housing construction project management e.g. commercial, highways and renewable energy.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) and/or relevant technical postgraduate qualification e.g. CIOB, RICS, RIBA or equivalent.
