About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join the Maintenance team at Siemens in Congleton. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically and mechanically minded engineer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about reliability, continuous improvement, and emerging technologies.

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment through effective fault finding, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Breakdown Recovery
    • Lead rapid electrical and mechanical diagnostics and repairs.
    • Minimise production downtime through effective troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Carry out Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
    • Undertake dynamic risk assessments for all maintenance activities.
    • Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Reliability & Root Cause Analysis
    • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify and eliminate recurring failures.
    • Accurately record maintenance activities and findings within the CMMS system.
    • Support plant reliability improvements through data-driven decision making.
  • Predictive Maintenance
    • Utilise AI-driven monitoring systems and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules.
    • Support the transition from reactive maintenance to a proactive maintenance culture.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Develop and deliver technical 'One Point Lessons'.
    • Support energy efficiency and sustainability projects.
    • Contribute to Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Technical Skills
    • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities.
    • Methodical approach to diagnostics and problem solving.
    • Good PC literacy and experience using maintenance management systems.
    • PLC knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Manufacturing & Industry Knowledge
    • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
    • Knowledge of 7S and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
    • Interest in Industry 4.0 technologies, including Robotics, Data Analytics, and AI-integrated systems.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Self-motivated and organised.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible approach to working patterns, including weekends, overtime, shift rotations, and occasional night shifts.

Rates & Overtime

  • Standard Rate: £18.90 per hour PAYE (dependent on experience)
  • Weekday Overtime: 133% (Time and One Third)
  • Saturday: 150% (Time and a Half)
  • Sunday: 200% (Double Time)
  • Night Shift Premium: +50%
