Colchester Institute is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic GCSE Maths Resit Lecturer with the resilience and drive to push for progress every single day.
About the Role:- Deliver engaging and high-impact GCSE Maths resit lessons to learners who are retaking the qualification.
- Inspire and motivate learners who may have previous negative experiences and feelings around maths.
- Use creative teaching strategies to tackle maths anxiety and reshape negative mindsets.
- Track, monitor and analyse student progress, using data to inform targeted action plans.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback that celebrates progress and drives improvement.
- Create a positive, inclusive and high-expectation classroom environment.
- Establish and maintain firm, fair and consistent classroom management strategies that create a calm, purposeful learning environment.
- Provide inclusive support for learners with varying abilities and additional needs.
- Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE examinations, embedding exam technique and resilience.
- Contribute to college-wide quality assurance processes.
- Inspire learners and positively invest in their future.
- Education to level 3 or above and/or a professional qualification in relevant subject area or equivalent.
- Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent.
- Relevant Teacher training / completing within 3 years of employment or 3 years of the first available course.
- Experience working with disengaged or low-confidence learners.
- Proven experience teaching GCSE Maths, ideally including resit cohorts.
- An understanding of issues surrounding maths anxiety and barriers relating to the learning of mathematics.
- Demonstrable track record of improving learner outcomes and achievement rates.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management experience in a further education or secondary setting.
- Experience of using adaptive teaching to meet a wide range of abilities and learning needs.
- Experience preparing learners for GCSE examinations, including exam techniques and revision strategies.
