We're looking for an experienced and commercially driven Contracts Manager - Capital Projects to lead our Capital Projects Delivery Team and drive the successful delivery of complex engineering projects across the UK water sector.
This is a high-profile leadership role with full accountability for the safe, profitable and successful delivery of capital equipment installation and refurbishment projects for UK water utility clients. Based from either our Clevedon or Nottingham office, you'll lead a team of Project Managers, Engineers and Site Teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Working closely with the Operations Director, you'll play a key role in shaping delivery strategy, driving commercial performance, building strong customer relationships and developing a high-performing team. With responsibility for operational excellence, project governance and departmental profitability, this role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on both business performance and customer success.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading, developing and mentoring a high-performing Capital Projects team.
- Taking ownership of projects from survey and estimation through to commissioning and closeout.
- Delivering projects safely, efficiently and profitably while meeting customer expectations.
- Managing project budgets, forecasts, risks and commercial performance.
- Building trusted relationships with water utility customers and key stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, governance frameworks and HSEQ standards.
- Producing and presenting project, operational and financial performance reports.
- Working collaboratively with Engineering, Operations, Finance and Commercial teams to maximise delivery performance and resource utilisation.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, productivity and customer outcomes.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a confident leader who combines strong technical understanding with commercial awareness and a passion for delivering exceptional results. You'll bring:
- An Engineering Degree, HND or equivalent qualification, or significant relevant experience.
- Proven experience leading engineering or capital project delivery teams.
- Experience within the water, wastewater or related industrial sectors.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, costs and profitability.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts and project governance processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong planning, organisation and resource management capabilities.
- Passion for safety, quality and continuous improvement.
