The predicted salary is between 16.5 - 18.5 £ per hour.

Our client is a well-established engineering manufacturer looking to recruit an experienced CNC Milling Machine Operator / Setter to join their production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating the machine, loading materials and tooling, adjusting offsets and producing high-quality components to engineering specifications. Please note: this is not a programming role. The role is focused on machine setting, operating, and machining components accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate an XYZ SMX 4000 milling machine.
  • Use a ProtoTRAK / ProTRAK controller as part of day-to-day machine operation.
  • Load and secure materials, tooling and fixtures.
  • Adjust tooling, machine settings and fixture offsets as required.
  • Carry out machining of components to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use measuring and inspection equipment to check components against required tolerances.
  • Read, interpret and work from engineering drawings.
  • Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area in line with company procedures.
  • Support team working and continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous machining experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Confident using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges.
  • Able to work accurately to tight tolerances.
  • Good understanding of health and safety within a machine shop environment.
  • Reliable, practical, and quality-focused approach to work.

Desirable

  • Experience operating an XYZ SMX 4000 milling machine.
  • Experience using a ProtoTRAK / ProTRAK controller.
  • Experience machining of stainless steel or similar engineering materials.
  • Time-served engineering apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.
