Network Splunk Developer
£550 per day | 12-month contract | Chester | Hybrid 3 days per week
We are looking for an experienced Network Splunk Developer to join a large enterprise network environment, supporting telemetry, monitoring and observability across a complex infrastructure estate.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, normalise and onboard network device telemetry, metrics, logs and events into Splunk.
Develop and maintain Splunk dashboards, searches, visualisations and alerts for Network Operations.
Work closely with Network Engineering teams across routing, switching, wireless and SD-WAN environments.
Develop alerting strategies to identify network degradation, anomalies and availability risks.
Support incident triage, root-cause analysis and proactive network monitoring .
Validate telemetry data quality, identify gaps and work with stakeholders to resolve issues.
Support onboarding of new network platforms and device types.
Document telemetry sources, dashboards, alert logic and operational processes.
Provide support during major network rollouts and changes.
Essential Experience
46 years' experience in network operations, telemetry, monitoring or data analysis.
Strong understanding of enterprise networking , including routing, switching, wireless and SD-WAN.
Hands-on Splunk experience covering data ingestion, searches, dashboards and alerting.
Experience with SNMP, syslog, telemetry streams, APIs and device metrics .
Ability to translate network telemetry into actionable operational insights.
Familiarity with incident, problem and change management.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Desirable
Python, SPL or API scripting experience.
Experience with SDN/controller-based networks.
Exposure to automation, CI/CD and large-scale network environments.
Understanding of network KPIs, availability and performance metrics.
