Design Manager Faades & Cladding Location: Essex/London

Salary: £70,000
The Opportunity We are representing an established specialist faade and cladding contractor delivering complete building-envelope packages across the UK.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to coordinate faade design information across a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential and mixed-use projects.
This is a hands-on position for someone who understands how faade design works in practice. You will manage external designers, coordinate interfaces between different faade systems and ensure the right technical information reaches the project team at the right time.
Key Responsibilities Manage external faade engineers, specialist designers and drawing offices.
Coordinate Stage 4 design information across multiple live projects.
Develop and maintain design programmes and Information Required Schedules.
Review drawings and technical submissions for completeness, compliance and buildability.
Coordinate interfaces between SFS, cladding, stone, glazing, curtain walling and structural elements.
Track shop drawings, fabrication drawings, material submissions and samples through approval.
Manage RFIs and technical queries between designers, site teams and clients.
Attend design meetings and technical workshops with architects, consultants and main contractors.
Support pre-construction teams with tender reviews, design queries and responsibility matrices.
Carry out site visits to resolve technical issues and review installation quality.
About You We are looking for someone with:
At least five years experience within the faade, cladding or building-envelope sector.
Previous experience in faade design coordination, technical management or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of systems including SFS, rainscreen cladding, stone cladding, curtain walling, glazing and cavity construction.
Experience managing external designers and coordinating Design & Build projects.
The ability to confidently review construction drawings, technical specifications and structural information.
Strong document-control and programme-management skills.
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to represent the business in client and design-team meetings.
A relevant CSCS card.
Experience with BIM and CDE platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Aconex or Procore would be advantageous.
