Mrwell Talent Solutions are delighted to be partnering with a highly respected and values-driven organisation based in Cardiff, as they look to appoint an experienced Management Accountant to join their finance team on a permanent basis. This is not your typical Management Accountant position. Working within an organisation that plays an important role in the arts and cultural landscape across Wales, you'll be joining a friendly and collaborative finance team where your work will genuinely contribute to something meaningful.
The Opportunity
Reporting closely into the senior finance team, you'll work alongside the Finance Director and Finance Business Partner, supporting both the core organisation and its trading subsidiary. You'll be taking over from a long-standing and highly valued member of the team who is retiring, giving you the opportunity to step into a well-established role and build on an excellent foundation.
The role offers genuine variety, combining technical management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and business partnering, alongside the opportunity to support wider finance transformation projects. With multiple departments, projects, income streams and a trading subsidiary, this is a varied and intellectually engaging environment where there is plenty to get involved with.
What will you be doing?
- Producing accurate and insightful monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting across multiple departments, projects and cost centres
- Supporting the financial management of both the organisation and its trading subsidiary
- Providing meaningful financial analysis, insight and performance reporting
- Analysing financial and operational performance and producing detailed analytical information
- Working closely with non-finance stakeholders, helping them understand and use financial information effectively
- Supporting funding reporting requirements and analysing multiple income streams
- Managing balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring financial accuracy
- Supporting project and production-based budgeting
- Supervising, mentoring and supporting two members of the finance team
- Working closely with senior leadership to support informed decision-making
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and efficiencies
- Playing an active role in upcoming finance transformation projects, including the implementation of a new ERP system
About You
We're looking for an experienced Management Accountant who enjoys more than simply producing the numbers. You'll be technically strong, commercially aware and confident communicating with people at all levels. You'll enjoy getting under the skin of the numbers, understanding what they mean for the wider organisation and using your financial expertise to add genuine value.
Ideally, you will have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or be part-qualified with significant relevant experience
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
- Excellent budgeting, forecasting and analytical skills
- Strong Excel capabilities
- Experience working with a large integrated ERP system; SAP experience would be particularly advantageous
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to explain financial information to non-finance professionals
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience would be highly advantageous
- A strong eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
- A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach
We will also consider candidates who are qualified by experience and have gained substantial experience in a similar Management Accountant position.
Desirable experience
It would be advantageous if you have experience of:
- Charity SORP reporting
- Project or production-based budgeting
- Working within a multi-funded or multi-income-stream environment
What's on offer?
- Salary up to £40,000
- 35-hour working week
- Excellent benefits package
- Beautiful offices in Cardiff Bay
- Discounted parking available nearby
- Opportunity to be involved in exciting finance transformation and ERP implementation projects
- A varied role with genuine exposure across the wider organisation
- The opportunity to work closely with senior leadership
- A friendly, supportive and established finance team
- The chance to contribute to an organisation with a strong legacy and a meaningful role within the cultural landscape of Wales
Why this role?
If you're looking for a role where you can use your technical accounting skills, work closely with senior stakeholders, develop your leadership experience and genuinely see the impact of your work, this could be an excellent next step. The organisation understands that the summer months can make recruitment a little more challenging and is not looking to rush the process. They are happy to wait for the right person so if this sounds like the sort of opportunity you've been waiting for, we'd love to hear from you.
