Highbank has an opportunity for an Activities Co-Ordinator to join our team. Based in Bury, Greater Manchester, Priory Highbank Centre is a Neurorehabilitation service for adults. It provides residential support for males and females with acquired brain injuries (ABI), progressive neurological conditions (PNC), and associated complex physical health needs, including those with complex respiratory requirements such as tracheostomies and mechanical ventilation.

Our service users also receive neurorehabilitation for conditions such as:

  • Acquired brain injuries
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Post neurosurgeries
  • Neurodegenerative conditions
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Diffuse multifocal brain injuries
  • Strokes

As part of the interview process, you will be required to give a 10 minute presentation on "How you will engage our service users in social activities" considering the wide range of different needs, giving examples of types of activity.

As an MDT, we operate as a close team to develop and improve the independence of all our service users. Utilising a holistic person centred approach, we develop all of our programmes with the service user and their families and facilitate various social activities to help enhance their daily lives. The social activities planned are based on our service users varied abilities and clinical presentation due to their neurological injuries which incorporates each individual's interests and hobbies.

You would be required to create a plan of meaningful activities for service users, both in group and/or individually. These should be enjoyable and be of therapeutic value. The range of activity should represent the diversity of our service users. Whilst having autonomy with the planning and organizing of activities in collaboration with the MDT members, you will be working flexible hours based on the needs of service users, also including some weekend working.

You will be helping new service users to become orientated and feeling at home at our facility. You will also support social trips out including home visits planned with them and their families. You will receive all the mandatory training and will be supervised and supported by the senior clinical team.

  • Experience working within a similar role
  • Be empathetic and creative to ensure inclusivity, irrespective of clinical presentation
  • Experience of planning social activities
  • You must hold a full, UK driving license for a minimum of 3 years

The successful candidate will be required to apply for a disclosure at the enhanced level from the Disclosure & Barring Services, which will be paid for by the Priory.
