The Opportunity We are working with a highly specialised manufacturing business operating within an advanced engineering and technical production environment. Due to continued growth and increasing production requirements, they are looking to appoint an experienced Production Supervisor to lead and develop their Assembly Area team. This is a key role within a high-output, fast-paced manufacturing environment , overseeing multiple automated assembly machines alongside manual assembly processes, with production operating on a 24/7 basis.
The Assembly Department is already producing in excess of 1 million units per week , with ambitious plans to increase output significantly. The successful Production Supervisor will play an important role in driving this growth, improving production performance and ensuring the department consistently meets its targets. For the right individual, there is also significant scope to develop within the business as the organisation continues to expand.
The Role
As Production Supervisor, you will take responsibility for organising, motivating and driving the Assembly team to achieve production requirements while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and efficiency. You will work closely with the Operations Manager and other departments across the business to ensure production requirements are met and that any issues affecting output are identified and addressed quickly.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading, motivating and driving the Assembly Department to meet production output targets. Organising and managing the Assembly team across all shifts, including holiday and sickness cover. Coordinating weekend and engineering call-out requirements where necessary. Working closely with the Operations Manager regarding production requirements and priorities. Monitoring staff performance and supporting performance improvement in conjunction with management. Assisting with production activities when required to maintain output.
Monitoring and ordering machine spare parts and consumables. Coordinating external Service Engineer visits for ancillary equipment. Working with other departments to ensure wider business requirements are achieved. Identifying opportunities for process improvement, increased efficiency and cost reduction. Taking ownership of improvement projects and driving them through to completion. Creating and reviewing Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures. Supporting the training and development of new and existing employees. Providing hands-on support and guidance to members of the Assembly team. Assisting with other production and operational requirements as required.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Production Supervisor, Production Team Leader or Manufacturing Supervisor who is comfortable working in a high-output, fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will ideally have experience of supervising production teams within a 24/7 or shift-based manufacturing operation , together with a strong understanding of assembly processes and manufacturing equipment. The successful candidate will ideally have: Proven experience supervising and organising a Production team.
Experience working within a 24/7 or shift-based manufacturing environment. Approximately 510 years' experience within a high-output production environment . A strong mechanical aptitude and good understanding of manufacturing equipment. Experience of assembly technology and automated production machinery. Good knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 . Strong people-management and leadership skills. Excellent organisational and communication abilities. A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
The ability to work effectively under pressure and in a target-driven environment. A hands-on approach and willingness to support the team when required. The flexibility to work outside normal hours periodically to spend time with each shift and understand the operation across the full 24/7 cycle.
