If you're a talented storyteller with a passion for PR, content and communications, this could be the role for you. We're looking for a creative and proactive PR & Content Executive to join the central marketing team at Polaris Community.

Polaris Community is one of the UK's largest providers of children's services, with a diverse community of fostering, education, residential and specialist services operating across the country. There are countless stories to tell across our community, and this role will play an important part in uncovering and amplifying the inspirational and moving experiences of Foster Parents, people with care experience and colleagues across the organisation.

Working closely with the Senior PR & Content Manager and the wider marketing team, you'll identify, develop and share compelling stories across earned and owned channels. You'll interview Foster Parents, young people and colleagues, develop case studies, write press releases, pitch stories to journalists and support PR campaigns that bring the work of Polaris Community and its brands to life and raise their profile.

You'll also identify reactive PR opportunities, build relationships with journalists and support the production and promotion of our Let's Talk About Fostering podcast and other long-form storytelling content. One day you could be interviewing a Foster Parent for a case study, the next pitching a story to national or regional media, and then helping to coordinate the recording and promotion of a podcast episode. It's a broad and varied role for someone who loves finding the human story behind an organisation, can turn complex subjects into clear and engaging communications and is confident building relationships with people at every level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, develop and produce compelling stories by working closely with Foster Parents, colleagues, in-house experts and the wider marketing team
  • Manage case studies and press releases from initial research and interviews through to writing, approval and distribution
  • Write high-quality PR content, including press releases, case studies, pitches and other storytelling content
  • Support the planning and delivery of PR campaigns designed to raise the profile of Polaris Community and its brands
  • Monitor the media landscape, news agenda and wider trends to identify relevant reactive PR opportunities
  • Pitch stories to local, regional and national media and develop positive relationships with journalists
  • Respond to inbound media enquiries in a timely and proactive way
  • Manage press release distribution, identify appropriate journalists and publications and tailor pitches for different audiences
  • Use our media database to identify relevant journalists, contacts and opportunities
  • Support the planning, production and promotion of the Let's Talk About Fostering podcast, including coordinating guests, recording, distribution and amplification of episodes
  • Liaise with case study participants and interviewees, ensuring relationships are managed sensitively and ethically throughout the storytelling process
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across PR, content and marketing to ensure projects are delivered accurately and within agreed deadlines
  • Source imagery, coordinate approvals and complete supporting administration for PR and storytelling activity
  • Monitor and report on PR and storytelling activity, including media coverage and campaign results
  • Develop a strong understanding of individual Polaris brands and the appropriate tone of voice for each

About You

  • Experience working within PR, communications, journalism or marketing in-house or agency-side
  • A strong track record of developing compelling stories and content across multiple platforms
  • The ability to identify newsworthy and engaging story angles for different audiences
  • Strong written English, copywriting and storytelling skills
  • Experience working with journalists and media outlets and securing regional or national media coverage
  • Ability to provide examples of relevant media coverage or PR work
  • Ability to develop engaging press releases, case studies and pitches
  • Ability to turn complex information into clear, accessible and engaging narratives
  • A creative approach to content creation and PR campaign planning
  • Confidence and strong interpersonal skills when interviewing people and building relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Sensitivity and sound judgement when working with emotive or sensitive subject matter and telling stories ethically
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to proofread your own and others' work
  • Strong communication, organisational and collaboration skills
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Confidence working independently while collaborating effectively as part of a wider team
  • A proactive, resourceful and positive approach to your work

Desirable

  • Experience of podcast production or audio storytelling
  • Experience using Asana
  • A relevant degree or qualification in PR, communications, journalism or marketing, although equivalent experience will also be considered
