Summary of Cook duties:

As a Cook in one of our homes, you will be leading a team in the kitchen and responsible for the smooth running of every shift. Main duties include:

  • Ensuring that our residents' food needs are met and that their wishes and expectations are being exceeded.
  • Carefully planning meals to ensure that they are of high quality and appetisingly presented, and that food safety guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Ordering food stock, adhering to budgets when ordering ingredients from suppliers.
  • Supervising Catering Assistants, ensuring they understand their duties and perform them to a high standard.
  • Ensuring all appropriate records are in place in accordance with Environmental Health and the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority Guidelines.
  • Ensuring all areas of the kitchen, including storage areas, are kept meticulously clean and tidy at all times.
  • Ensuring that food is stored and cooked in accordance with Environmental Health Regulations.
  • Assuring the quality of food items delivered to the kitchen.
  • Regular stock rotation of provisions in refrigerators, freezers and store rooms.
  • Using and cleaning all equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for residents at all times.
  • Adhering to the Fire Policy, COSHH Regulations and all other Health and Safety procedures.
