Here at Brockenhurst College, we are looking to recruit a permanent, part time Lecturer in Music and Music Technology for 18.5 hours per week. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £33,367 - £44,365 pro rata per annum. We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.
The main purpose of the role is to continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching.
Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Music and Music Technology will include:
- Teach BTEC Music and lead practical music ensembles as agreed with the Curriculum Leader, 0.5 post, although hours/courses may be subject to change.
- Provide pastoral support where required.
- Act as Course Leader, when requested.
- Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriate.
- Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students.
- Participate, as a team member, in the development of teaching methods and strategies towards an ethos of continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the self-assessment process and take responsibility for relevant actions and targets in the development plan for the curriculum area.
As our Lecturer in Music and Music Technology ideally you will have:
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area.
- Appropriate teacher training qualification.
- Excellent teaching skills.
- Experience in delivering Music BTEC Programme at level 3.
- Knowledge and understanding of current developments in practical music and the music business.
- Empathy with and strong commitment to meeting the needs of individual students.
