At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for both civil and military aircraft. The successful Welder will be expected to work with a variety of industry equipment in carrying out various fabrication duties. We're looking for someone that has knowledge of percussion riveting, Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels and other skills as expected with the role.
The role will see candidates working day shifts, on a Monday to Thursday basis, with the opportunity to work night shifts once fully trained, which incurs an additional 33% shift premium.
How You'll Contribute:
- Working with various materials (titanium, aluminium, stainless steel) in the manufacture of aircraft parts, across a variety of Airbus family of aircraft.
- Ensure parts are produced on a right first time basis.
- Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system.
- Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader.
- Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures.
- Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974.
- To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval).
- Responsible for general housekeeping within the area.
- Compliant with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities.

- Essential:
- A recognised and relevant apprenticeship and relevant NVQ level 3 (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work to standard operating procedures.
- Must be able to work in small teams with Team Leaders.
- Self-motivated team player with good communication skills.
- Desirable:
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to operate CNC Machinery (Unison Pipe Bending machines, Power Presses, CNC Drilling & routering).
- Experience of swaging pipework.
