An exciting and career-defining opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader to join the team based at our Western Approach site (BS35 4GG). The modern manufacturing facility is an International Centre of Excellence in composite wing structure design and production, manufacturing composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for some of the world's most popular aircraft.

As a Team Leader, you will have full accountability for all aspects of operational performance, whilst ensuring that we deliver our People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost (PSQDCC) targets. Reporting into a Group Leader, you will be an integral part of our Operations team, helping us deploy our Lean Operating Model and will be responsible for a team of around 10-12 operators.

The role is available on either a core days or a 24/7 shift pattern as outlined below:

  • Core Days: 07:00am - 15:00pm Mon-Fri
  • 24/7 Shift pattern, 12 hour shifts (32% Shift Allowance):
    • Wk1: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (Days)
    • Wk2: Thursday, Friday (Nights)
    • Wk3: Saturday, Sunday (Nights), Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (Days)
    • Wk4: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (Nights)

How You'll Contribute:

  • Leading and developing your team to understand the context, mechanics and the delivery of PSQDCC targets to meet customer and stakeholder commitments.
  • Driving the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model (LOM) across your assigned area.
  • Being actively involved in problem solving and the management system using a 'Go to Gemba' approach to solve problems with the ambition that 95% of issues can be solved within the zone itself.
  • Contributing to the Value Stream future state design, and ensuring its execution across your assigned area.
  • Cooperating with other Team Leaders to ensure the best performance outcomes for the entire area.
  • Holding the functional support staff accountable for adhering to the Global standards and enabling your zone team to meet its targets.

  • Essential:
    • Excellent performance as a Team member, demonstrating rigorous adherence to standardised work.
    • A background in assembly/engineering.
    • Demonstrable ability to work with various stakeholders.
    • Potential to lead, engage, train and develop direct reports.
    • An effective communicator and an influential team member.
    • Good standard of English language; both oral and written.
  • Desirable:
    • Self-motivated by meeting and exceeding PSQDCC performance targets.
    • Previous experience within a Managerial/Team Leader role.
    • Inside knowledge of the aerospace industry.
