A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager - Bid Management to join a major defence organisation, supporting a major programme and working on complex, high-value business winning activities. The role will focus on developing innovative, compelling and deliverable bids, while contributing to wider product business cases, roadmaps and investment plans. This role will work closely with Sales & Business Development, Programmes, Technical and Finance teams to coordinate bidding activity and ensure propositions are commercially, technically and operationally deliverable. The successful candidate will operate in a complex, fast-moving environment, managing multiple stakeholders and responding effectively to changing customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimise a portfolio of concurrent and future bidding activities.
- Lead the development of compelling and deliverable business winning propositions.
- Deliver Product Business Cases to maximise the probability of success for bidding campaigns.
- Work collaboratively with Sales & Business Development, Programme, Technical and Finance functions.
- Contribute to Product Line strategy through product roadmaps and investment strategies.
- Champion business winning best practices, processes and approaches.
- Respond effectively to changing customer requirements and priorities.
- Manage complex issues and develop innovative solutions within challenging timescales.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across a diverse, international organisation.
- Support contract acquisition and wider business delivery activities.
The ideal candidate would have:
- Experience working within project management, programme management or business delivery environments.
- Experience of managing or contributing to bids and business winning activities.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple functions and levels.
- Experience working within complex or matrix organisations.
- A good understanding of bidding considerations across technical, commercial and business stakeholders.
- Experience of working within the defence sector or another complex engineering environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in ambiguous and changing environments.
- Experience developing or contributing to business cases, product strategies, roadmaps or investment plans.
The ideal candidate must have:
- Direct experience either managing or writing bids of a technical nature, preferably within an engineering development environment.
- Proven project management experience, including the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against challenging timescales.
- Excellent judgement and the ability to influence stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple functional areas.
- The ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems under time pressure.
- Experience managing changing customer requirements and responding effectively to emerging issues.
- The ability to work independently while coordinating activity across a broad stakeholder network.
