Job Purpose : The Ink Room Operative is responsible for supporting production operations through the effective management, preparation, mixing, and supply of inks, coatings, and related consumables.
The role ensures materials are available in line with production requirements while maintaining high standards of quality, stock control, safety, housekeeping, and operational efficiency.
Main
Duties:
Ink Preparation and Colour Management
Coordinate colour matching activities and maintain approved colour standards.
Create and maintain records for new ink formulations and products.
Verify colour standards and product specifications prior to production.
Monitor ink performance and arrange corrective action, reformulation, or re-matching where required.
Support production teams with colour adjustments and troubleshooting when necessary.
Production Planning Support
Review production schedules and prepare inks, coatings, and associated materials in advance of manufacturing requirements.
Ensure all materials required for upcoming production runs are available, identified, and ready for use.
Update usage data and material consumption records following production runs to improve future planning accuracy.
Inventory and Stock Management
Maintain adequate stocks of inks, coatings, and consumables to support production demand.
Perform routine stock checks and monitor inventory levels against production plans.
Coordinate material orders with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply.
Receive, check, and store incoming deliveries in accordance with company procedures.
Rotate stock to ensure materials are used within recommended shelf-life periods.
Ink Mixing and Manufacturing
Operate and maintain ink mixing equipment and associated systems.
Manufacture inks and coatings to approved specifications and customer requirements.
Optimise the use of existing stock by incorporating suitable surplus or returned materials where quality standards permit.
Ensure all mixed products meet required quality, colour, and performance standards.
Maintain traceability and accurate documentation for all manufactured products.
Material Handling and Housekeeping
Supply production areas with inks, coatings, and consumables as required.
Collect and return unused materials to designated storage locations.
Segregate, label, and dispose of waste materials in accordance with company procedures and environmental requirements.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the Ink Room and storage areas.
Ensure all materials are stored safely and in designated locations.
Administration and Reporting
Maintain accurate records relating to stock movements, material usage, production support activities, and waste management.
Requirements:
A high standard of education, including written and verbal English
Experience of working in a service delivery role within a manufacturing environment
High level of competence with computer packages.
Outgoing and can-do attitude
Comfortable with independent problem solving and dealing with people
