About the Role
We're working with a growing Managed Service Provider looking to appoint an experienced Infrastructure / 3rd Line Engineer to join their technical team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong all-round MSP background who's comfortable working across cloud, security, infrastructure, and networking, and who enjoys resolving complex, escalated support issues for a broad client base.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Support and maintain cloud environments across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
- Support and maintain client infrastructure, including servers, virtualisation, and storage.
- Support networking environments including switches, firewalls, routing, and VPNs.
- Support security-related issues across client environments including endpoint security, patching, identity/access management, and general security best practice.
- Diagnose and resolve root-cause issues rather than just symptoms, reducing recurring tickets.
- Document technical solutions, processes, and configurations clearly for internal knowledge base and client records.
- Mentor and support junior engineers (1st/2nd line), helping to develop their technical knowledge.
- Liaise directly with clients on more complex or sensitive technical matters, ensuring clear communication throughout.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience working within an MSP environment at 3rd line level for 3 years + essential.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure architecture and services including Azure Landing Zones, Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Site Recovery, and Azure Local, and Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, etc.).
- Solid understanding of IT security fundamentals including endpoint protection, identity/access management, patching, and general best practice.
- Infrastructure experience including servers, virtualisation (e.g. VMware/Hyper-V), storage, and backups.
- Networking knowledge including firewalls, switches, VPNs, and routing/switching fundamentals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, comfortable owning complex escalations end-to-end.
- Excellent communication skills, confident dealing directly with clients.
- Relevant certifications desirable (e.g. Microsoft Azure/365 certifications, networking certs) but not essential if experience is strong.
