My Client is a Legal 500-ranked, full-service law firm with a well-established presence in Bristol and the South West. The Employment team acts for a broad range of corporate, SME and individual clients, and is recognised in the independent legal directories for the quality and depth of its advice.
The Role
We are seeking an Employment Solicitor to join our Bristol team, working on a mixed caseload of contentious and non-contentious matters for a varied client base. This is an opportunity to develop a broad employment practice within a well-regarded, Legal 500-ranked team, with genuine early client contact and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including contracts, disciplinary and grievance processes, redundancy and TUPE
- Supporting Employment Tribunal claims, predominantly acting for respondent employers
- Advising on day-to-day HR queries for a range of corporate and SME clients
- Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, staff handbooks, policies and settlement agreements
- Advising on restrictive covenants, post-termination disputes and senior executive exits
- Supporting clients through business reorganisations, redundancy consultations and large-scale restructuring projects
- Providing advice on discrimination, whistleblowing and other Employment Tribunal claims, from initial instruction through to hearing
- Assisting with the employment aspects of corporate transactions, including TUPE due diligence on acquisitions and disposals
- Keeping clients updated on changes in employment law and contributing to the team's client seminars, webinars and know-how
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales), 2-6 years' PQE in employment law
- Strong technical drafting and analytical skills, with sound tribunal advocacy experience where relevant to level
- Excellent client-facing manner and ability to manage a varied, fee-earning caseload with minimal supervision
- Commercially aware, with an interest in business development and building client relationships
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collegiate environment
