These are exciting roles supporting parents, carers and families across Bridgend County Borough. You will work directly with families who may be experiencing day-to-day parenting challenges, helping them to build confidence, strengthen relationships and develop practical strategies that improve family wellbeing and outcomes.
We recognise that every family is unique and work collaboratively with parents and carers to identify what is working well, understand challenges and develop solutions that meet their individual needs. Through evidence-based programmes, themed workshops, group activities, drop-in sessions, family events and one-to-one coaching-based support, we empower families to build on their strengths and create positive and sustainable change.
What will the role involve?
- Working directly with parents, carers and families to identify strengths, needs and challenges that may be impacting family wellbeing and relationships.
- Delivering evidence-based parenting programmes and targeted interventions that build confidence, strengthen parenting skills and support positive family outcomes.
- Providing practical advice, guidance and coaching to support parents and carers with routines, boundaries, emotional regulation and managing behaviours that they may find challenging.
- Working collaboratively with schools, health professionals and other partner agencies to ensure coordinated and holistic support for families.
- Contributing to service development activities, ensuring the voices and experiences of parents, carers and children inform the delivery of support.
- Applying safeguarding and child protection procedures consistently and confidently.
These positions are based working between the office, based in Tondu and across Bridgend, whether that be community venues or family's homes. We recognise that families have different circumstances and commitments, so support is delivered in a variety of community venues and at times that work best for them. As a result, practitioners work flexibly Monday to Friday, including early evenings, to ensure support is accessible and responsive to family needs.
What are we looking for?
- Experience of delivering family support, parenting interventions, coaching or related programmes using a strengths-based approach.
- Knowledge and understanding of the challenges that can impact family functioning, parenting confidence and children's wellbeing and development.
- Experience of delivering one-to-one and/or group-based interventions.
- Experience of working collaboratively within a multi-agency environment.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
