Role Overview: HGV Technician
Shift Pattern: 4-on, 4-off (12-hour shifts)
Salary Breakdown:
Days: £43,000
Split Shift (Days & Nights): £48,000
Nights: £51,000
Key Responsibilities (HOVIS Vehicle Services Specification)
Servicing & Maintenance: Perform routine servicing, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance across the fleet (e.g., 16T DAF, 7.2T Iveco Daily, and larger distribution units).
Diagnostics: Perform mechanical and electrical fault-finding using commercial diagnostic tools (e.g., Texa systems).
MOT & Safety Inspections: Prepare commercial vehicles and trailers to DVSA standards for MOT testing.
Ancillary Maintenance: Inspect, service, and repair tail lifts, shutter doors, and bodywork components.
Compliance & Records: Ensure all vehicle defect reports, job cards, and maintenance logs meet strict road safety and DVSA compliance standards.
Candidate Requirements
Essential: NVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds / equivalent qualification) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
Preferred (Not Essential): Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) driving licence.
Skills & Experience:
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities on commercial vehicles.
Familiarity with DVSA inspection guidelines.
Ability to work effectively on a 12-hour 4-on, 4-off rota.
