Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we are moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you'll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (1 day in the office a week Bradford/Leeds).

We have an exciting opportunity for an SAP Principal Consultant Finance to join the IT team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

The SAP team is part of the IT function and plays a key role in optimising and transforming our SAP applications and associated Enterprise Systems. We support business areas such as Finance, HR, Procurement, Capital Delivery and Asset Maintenance/Management. Our team consists of functional and technical consultants, along with support related roles in Project Management, Business Analysis and Service Management. The SAP Finance Principal Consultant will play a key role in the SAP Finance, Procurement & Projects team driving business change and being a subject matter expert for the technology within this space.
As our SAP Principal Consultant Finance you will:
- Partner closely with Finance and business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives, challenges, and operational requirements, translating them into clear, scalable functional and technical solutions that deliver tangible business value and support long-term growth.
- Lead and manage finance system change initiatives throughout the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering, process design, and solution development through to testing, stakeholder engagement, training, deployment, and post-implementation support, ensuring successful outcomes and user adoption.
- Drive continuous improvement across finance systems and processes by proactively identifying opportunities to optimise workflows, increase automation, enhance reporting capabilities, and improve the overall user experience, helping the business maximise the value of its technology investments.
- Act as a trusted advisor and key liaison between Finance leadership, business stakeholders, technical teams, third-party vendors, and offshore Application Management Support (AMS) partners, fostering strong relationships, aligning priorities, and ensuring the successful delivery of solutions that meet both business and technical requirements.
- Provide expert guidance on finance systems, best practices, and process improvement opportunities, supporting the organisation's digital transformation journey and helping to shape the future finance technology landscape.
- Influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, effectively communicating complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable way, while building confidence, driving collaboration, and ensuring alignment across multiple workstreams and projects.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- A minimum of 6 years' experience within Finance and Controlling, with SAP S/4HANA experience highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of finance and end-to-end business processes.
- A solid understanding of integrated SAP modules and processes, including Materials Management (MM), Sales & Distribution (SD), Plant Maintenance (PM), and Asset Management (AM).
- An understanding of SAP Project Systems (PS) would be advantageous.
- Proven experience of SAP implementations and supporting large-scale transformation programmes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- The ability to translate complex business requirements into effective finance and system solutions.
- Knowledge of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Planning is desirable.
- Knowledge of Financial Consolidation using S/4HANA Embedded BPC would be beneficial.
- Experience with SAP Concur is advantageous.
