Our client, an industry leading and expanding engineering business based in Bradford, is looking to recruit a Projects Operations Manager to join the business on a permanent basis due to continued growth. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a lead Project Management role within an engineering environment (fuel infrastructure, mechanical engineering, construction, utilities, or related sectors), with the ability to see a project from cradle to grave while being able to engage with all stakeholders. Typical projects are between £250k - £1M with the business turning over £5M - £8M.

Candidates will be required to oversee all aspects of the projects from purchasing, planning, and site installation. Ideally, candidates will be Degree, HND/HNC qualified in a Mechanical, Electrical, or Civils based discipline. Qualifications in Prince2/PMP/APM are desirable along with SMSTS/IOSH or NEBOSH. Candidates should have experience working within a Mechanical/Electrical/Civils based environment, with exposure to NEC/JCT projects being a must.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5 PM. This role is available for an immediate start and will be based on site 5 days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple installation projects nationwide.
  • Manage project teams, site managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
  • Develop operational plans, resource strategies, and delivery programmes.
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Maintain project risk and issue registers, proactively managing items before they escalate.
  • Ensure project documentation and controls are maintained throughout delivery, including programmes, action logs, progress reports, and handover packs, with accurate records through to project close-out.
  • Report regularly to the Operations Director and board on programme status, performance, resource utilisation, cost, and emerging risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and project delivery.
  • Assume full commercial responsibility for project performance and profitability.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost control, cash flow, and financial reporting.
  • Review contract requirements and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Lead variation management, change control, and claims processes.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in project management and streamlining projects already in process.
  • Degree, HND/HNC qualified in a Mechanical, Electrical, or Civils based discipline.
  • Qualifications in Prince2/PMP/APM are desirable.
  • SMSTS/IOSH or NEBOSH desirable.
  • Experience working with NEC/JCT Contracts.
  • Ability to bring multiple departments together to ensure on-time delivery of projects.
