Our client is looking for an experienced, proactive Bookkeeper/Office Administrator to become the backbone of their busy office. This is a varied, standalone role, ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of day-to-day accounts and administration while working independently. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the office, managing bookkeeping duties, and providing administrative support across the business. There is also scope to expand the role to include payroll and VAT returns for someone with the relevant experience.
Responsibilities:
- Processing sales and purchase invoices
- Preparing and issuing quotations
- Maintaining accurate records on Sage
- General bookkeeping duties
- Reconciling accounts and ensuring financial records are up to date
- Handling general office administration and filing
- Answering and directing occasional telephone calls
- Supporting the wider business with ad hoc administrative tasks
- (Desirable) Preparing VAT returns
- (Desirable) Processing payroll
Requirements/Experience:
- Have previous experience in an office administration and bookkeeping role
- Be confident using Sage (or similar accounting software)
- Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Be able to work independently and manage their own workload
- Be proactive and capable of identifying tasks without needing constant direction
- Have a flexible and hands-on approach
- Be comfortable working in a busy office environment where colleagues are regularly coming and going
- Experience with VAT returns and payroll would be highly advantageous, although this is not essential and the role can develop if the successful candidate has these skills.
