Our client is a leading international main contractor delivering some of the world's most advanced hyperscale and mission-critical data centre developments. They are seeking an exceptional Project Director to lead the delivery of one of Europe's largest and most ambitious digital infrastructure programmesa landmark £10bnhyperscale data centre campus in Blyth, North East England.
This flagship development will be delivered over the next decade and represents one of the most significant construction projects currently underway in Europe. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the safe, commercial and operational delivery of a major phase of the programme, leading large multidisciplinary teams across construction, engineering and commercial functions.
Working closely with executive leadership, the client, consultants and key stakeholders, you will drive programme performance, ensure world-class project execution and oversee the successful delivery of multiple concurrent data centre facilities from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership for the successful delivery of a major hyperscale data centre project
Lead multidisciplinary project teams across construction, commercial, engineering and planning functions
Develop and implement project delivery strategies to achieve programme, quality and commercial objectives
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders
Drive programme performance and implement recovery strategies where required
Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance across all site activities
Oversee project budgets, forecasting, risk management and commercial performance
Lead project governance, reporting and executive-level progress reviews
Manage complex technical interfaces across CSA, MEP, commissioning and client equipment installation
Support procurement strategies and subcontractor performance management
Provide leadership through commissioning, practical completion and final project handover
Mentor and develop senior project management teams while fostering a high-performance culture
Requirements
Proven experience as a Project Director , Project Executive or Senior Project Manager delivering major construction projects
Strong background leading hyperscale data centre, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor or other large-scale industrial developments
Experience delivering projects valued in excess of £500m
Demonstrable success managing large multidisciplinary teams within complex live project environments
Excellent commercial awareness with strong experience managing NEC, JCT or equivalent construction contracts
Strong understanding of CSA, MEP and commissioning interfaces
Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
Degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline
Ability to lead high-performing teams within fast-paced, technically demanding environments
