A leading manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support ongoing production and engineering activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on contractor who enjoys fault finding, improving equipment reliability, and delivering engineering excellence across a varied production facility.

Working as part of an established engineering team, you will be responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance activities, ensuring maximum equipment uptime and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Breakdown Support
    • Respond to equipment breakdowns, carrying out effective fault finding and repairs.
    • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using technical drawings, manuals, and maintenance records.
    • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
    • Support production teams in minimising downtime and maximising equipment availability.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance
    • Complete scheduled maintenance activities in line with site maintenance plans.
    • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance strategies.
    • Support the continuous development of preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Investigate recurring equipment failures and identify root causes.
    • Implement corrective actions to improve machine performance and reliability.
    • Contribute to Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Root Cause Analysis initiatives.
    • Drive improvements in operational efficiency and asset performance.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Carry out risk assessments before undertaking maintenance activities.
    • Ensure all engineering tasks are completed in accordance with current health and safety legislation.
    • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions where required.
    • Support compliance audits and engineering best practice standards.
  • Documentation & Communication
    • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work reports.
    • Provide clear communication and technical feedback to production and engineering teams.
    • Participate in shift handovers and engineering meetings as required.
  • Spare Parts & Asset Management
    • Ensure effective use and control of spare parts inventory.
    • Support stock management and identify critical spares requirements.
    • Assist with asset maintenance and lifecycle management activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualifications
    • NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Relevant engineering certifications desirable.
  • Experience
    • Proven experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, packaging, food, industrial, or process environment.
    • Strong multi-skilled maintenance background covering both electrical and mechanical systems.
    • Demonstrated experience of fault finding on production machinery and automated equipment.
    • Ability to work independently and deliver results in a fast-paced operational environment.
