A National Organisation is seeking a Telecommunications Structural Engineer to join their growing business in the mobiles/wireless space. The successful Structural Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality structural designs for telecommunications sites.
Working across all company projects, the Structural Engineer works with various stakeholders to produce site-specific designs, placing emphasis on quality design outputs and compliance with internal quality standards. The Structural Engineer will ensure the design requirements of the client are captured and that high-quality, safe, commercially viable designs are produced both internally and by third parties (subcontractors). The successful candidate will monitor design quality and efficiency, reporting on outputs and addressing any issues in conjunction with other key stakeholders.
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule and distribute design work amongst internal and external resources to ensure delivery timeframes for design are met across all projects/work packages.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on external design resource (sub-contractor) performance.
- Provision of design expertise and support to internal departments acting as the key escalation point and client contact.
- To undertake and/or review site surveys and produce survey reports which detail workable, best practice solutions.
- Produce designs to quality standards, statutory and client requirements.
- Produce plan and elevation views with associated standard design requirements.
- Complete work to output expectations, ensuring the timely delivery of work.
- Develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders ensuring that milestones are met within agreed timeframes.
- Ensure design buildability, cost control processes/considerations within designs.
- Support the Lead Engineer as required in particular through expert structural design advice.
- Organise and lead design forums/discussions and disseminate information related to design.
- Timely and accurate recording of information on internal and client databases.
- Prepare high-quality, accurate reports for both internal and external distribution as required.
- Understand, promote and comply with the company QA, Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures.
- Provide coaching, training and mentoring as required to various project employees.
- Attend multi-skilled visits (MSV) providing practical and relevant design advice to meet site and client specifications.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Acquisition Surveyors, Project Engineers and other key stakeholders to ensure design deliverables are met within agreed timeframes.
- H&S Management (in conjunction with the HSEQ Manager), including adherence to Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations.
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS
- Degree qualified in Construction/Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience as a Telecoms Design Engineer essential.
- Sound leadership skills and ability to share information and knowledge with others.
- Demonstrated ability to write technical documentation and develop standards.
- Ability to analyse data/information, interpret and report on results or findings.
- Strong investigative skills, ability to procure information and report findings.
- Knowledge of the latest version of AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT, photo editing software, Pro-MAP.
- Experience of rooftop safety regulations and design requirements.
- Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and British Standards with a commitment to safety in design principles.
- Sound IT skills competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
