Your new company: You will be joining an industry-leading Tier 1 contractor renowned for delivering major and complex infrastructure projects across the UK. As part of their continued growth, they are actively seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Birmingham. This is a dynamic role offering exposure to the major HS2 project where your commercial acumen will directly impact project success. This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Birmingham office with hybrid and flexible working.
Your new role: As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for key work packages on the HS2 project, supporting the delivery of complex civil engineering and infrastructure works. You will work closely with project teams, supply chain partners and senior stakeholders to manage cost, risk and value across the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Full commercial management of major civils work packages
- Cost planning, forecasting and financial reporting
- Administration of NEC contracts, including change control and compensation events
- Procurement and management of subcontractor packages
- Assessment and agreement of valuations and final accounts
- Risk and opportunity management to protect project margins
- Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members
- Working collaboratively with operational and engineering teams to drive value

What you'll need to succeed: To excel in this role, you will bring:
- Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar qualification) or experience equivalent
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within heavy civils
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3 and/or NEC4)
- Experience managing subcontractor procurement and commercial performance
- Strong cost control, reporting and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, commercially astute and solutions-focused mindset
- Full UK driving licence
