We're looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Highways Technology team based in Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Penrith. Remote working is available, with occasional travel to the office required.
Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired.

About the role: As a Senior Engineer within our Professional Services Team, you'll play a key role in delivering strategic and technical leadership to highways clients. You'll be working on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), guiding highways technology schemes from initial concept through to preliminary design. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities.
What will you be responsible for?
- Leading highways technology schemes from concept to preliminary design, including ITS solutions such as CCTV, VMS, MIDAS and communications networks.
- Producing high-quality technical outputs including designs, specifications, drawings, BoQs, reports and risk registers.
- Providing expert advice and technical governance to clients and stakeholders on innovative and legacy systems.
- Supporting feasibility studies, options appraisals and business case development.
- Mentoring and managing junior team members, providing line management, coaching and support.

- You hold a degree in an engineering or science-related discipline and are Chartered or working towards chartership.
- You have strong experience delivering ITS consultancy, design or project management.
- You're comfortable managing workloads, programmes and stakeholder relationships.
- You have knowledge of ITS, highways technology assets, IoT, telecoms and IP systems.
- You possess excellent communication skills with a practical, commercial mindset.
