An iconic Birmingham hotel with a proud heritage dating back to 1879 is seeking an experienced Senior Conference & Events Sales Co-ordinator to join its thriving Conference & Events team. Recognised as one of the city's leading venues for corporate meetings, prestigious conferences, gala dinners and large-scale events, the hotel regularly hosts high-profile functions within its impressive Grand Ballroom and versatile event spaces.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality sales professional who enjoys building client relationships, driving revenue and ensuring exceptional event delivery from initial enquiry through to completion.

As Senior Conference & Events Sales Co-ordinator, you will take ownership of high-value conference and event enquiries, converting opportunities into confirmed business while ensuring every event is planned and delivered to the highest standards. Working closely with operational departments, you will oversee the entire client journey, coordinate event logistics, maximise revenue opportunities and provide guidance and support to junior members of the Conference & Events team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage high-value and complex conference and event enquiries across telephone, email and online channels.
  • Prepare bespoke proposals, quotations and event packages tailored to clients' requirements.
  • Conduct client meetings, venue show rounds and site visits.
  • Negotiate pricing, maximise sales opportunities and secure confirmed bookings.
  • Coordinate event details with operational teams through detailed function sheets and event briefings.
  • Manage event diaries and ensure the effective allocation of conference and function spaces.
  • Monitor enquiry pipelines, follow-up activity and conversion rates to maximise business opportunities.
  • Drive additional revenue through upselling and developing repeat business.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to support sales performance.
  • Maintain accurate records within CRM and hotel booking systems.
  • Support and coach junior Conference & Events Sales Co-ordinators.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance customer experience and team performance.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience within conference and events, hospitality sales or hotel event coordination.
  • Experience working within a four or five-star hotel environment.
  • Strong customer-facing sales, account management or event planning experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple enquiries and prioritise competing deadlines.
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience using CRM, event management or hotel booking systems, including Delphi, Opera or similar platforms.
  • Strong collaboration skills with both sales and operational teams.
  • A proactive approach to delivering exceptional customer service within a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience managing high-value corporate conference and event accounts.
  • Experience improving sales conversion and supporting revenue growth.
  • Confidence conducting venue show rounds and client presentations.
  • Previous experience mentoring or coaching junior colleagues.
  • Understanding of hospitality revenue management and optimisation techniques.
