Our client is expanding their commercial team out of their Aston, Birmingham office. They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who can share in this growth ethos. Honesty, integrity and teamwork will be at the heart of what they do.
Ideally, candidates should have:
- Experience with CVRs/Valuations
- Live within easy travelling distance of the Birmingham area
- Experience dealing with direct labour and timesheets
- Knowledge of Schedules of Rates
- Formal qualifications or surveyor training
- Any exposure to Painting/Decorating
- Estimating/Measuring and applying rates

The Quantity Surveyor role involves:
- Measuring and preparing cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks
- Preparing cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Working closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity labour targets are agreed before contract start
- Building strong client and supplier relations
- Completing and analysing weekly reporting from site
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will need to be inquisitive, organised, and honest, thriving when collaborating with clients, trade teams and colleagues. Proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role is essential, along with experience working with Direct Labour and managing projects from tender and estimation stages through to final account.
Experience of successfully managing a value of works up to £3 million annually is required. An entrepreneurial spirit with a keen eye for identifying business opportunities is also important. A background in painting, decorating, brickwork or plastering would be transferrable for this role.
The main customer base will be Social Housing and Council/Local authority, Housing Associations, so highlighting any relevant experience in these sectors will be beneficial.
