Make a Difference in Capital Management

As a Project Actuary within our Capital Management team, you will be an experienced actuarial professional with a combination of technical and business skills. You will help lead the actuarial function, supporting Senior Leaders and Department Leaders in delivering actuarial work and shaping new directions and ideas.

Your Impact

  • Drive Capital Management activity for the Group; including regular solvency monitoring, developing investment strategy, management of the Estate, reinsurance and other strategic choices affecting the capital position of the Society's funds.
  • Drive Capital Management input to merger & acquisitions, reinsurance and other corporate finance projects, including due diligence, as required.
  • Progress the annual Capital Plan and support Risk Management activity by using appropriate Asset Liability, balance sheet modelling techniques.
  • Provide input into the Society's strategic planning activity, including oversight and maintenance of the Society's strategic planning models.
  • Support and develop the Capital Management team to deliver, provide insights and mentor individuals of the wider department for success.
  • Build strong industry links / join relevant forums to ensure Wesleyan keeps pace with latest industry practice.

What You'll Bring

  • Newly or nearly qualified member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
  • Experience of Solvency II balance sheet reporting, Capital Management techniques or reinsurance.
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to summarise and contextualise information for senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem solving and business analysis skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of actuarial projection software such as Prophet.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word and databases and knowledge of Python.
  • An organised and flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to coach, supervise and train junior members of the team.
