Pareto FM is looking for a skilled and reliable Mobile Engineer (PPM) to support a portfolio of client sites across Birmingham and the surrounding areas. This is a field-based role where travel between sites is an essential part of the position. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality planned preventative maintenance (PPM), ensuring building services remain safe, compliant, and operating efficiently.
As part of our Northern Business Unit, you'll join a well-supported engineering team with strong leadership, clear processes, and the tools and resources needed to succeed.
The Role
Your primary focus will be delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across mechanical and/or electrical building services, while also supporting reactive maintenance when required. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, managing their own schedule, and taking pride in delivering a high standard of service across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with maintenance schedules, statutory requirements, and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Carry out reactive maintenance and fault finding as required.
- Complete all work safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard.
- Accurately update CAFM systems and complete electronic maintenance records in real time.
- Work in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures, including RAMS.
- Identify and report defects, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Carry out minor repairs and general building fabric maintenance where required.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and site teams.
- Support specialist subcontractors during planned works and maintenance activities.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and company assets are maintained in good condition.
Team & Support
You'll be supported by an experienced team, including:
- Day-to-day operational support from the Lead Contract Support team, providing guidance, materials, and coordination.
- Line management from the Account Manager and Engineering Supervisor.
- Ongoing support from colleagues across the Northern Business Unit.
- A collaborative working environment with clear communication and strong operational structure.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience in a PPM or building maintenance engineering role.
- Good knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical building services (M&E/HVAC).
- Relevant engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 or 3, or equivalent).
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using CAFM systems or mobile maintenance reporting software.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work independently across a multi-site portfolio.
Desirable
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (for electrically biased engineers).
- F-Gas qualification (for HVAC-biased engineers).
- Experience working within commercial facilities management environments, including offices, retail, healthcare, or industrial sites.
