Overview of role: This role is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, fault finding, and diagnosis of electrical systems, using a strong working knowledge of electrical principles and practices. The position involves installing new electrical systems, including lighting and heating to agreed customer standards, as well as maintaining existing installations. All work is carried out in strict adherence to safety guidelines and in compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards, ensuring reliable, high-quality, and safe electrical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair electrical problems in commercial and domestic electrical systems, including fault finding, re-wiring and monitoring.
- Respond to reactive repair and maintenance works, including being available 'On Call' (on a rota basis) when required and as assigned.
- Assess parts needed and place orders in line with Company procedures using preferred suppliers.
- Conduct routine maintenance and testing on commercial and domestic electrical systems, and ensure installations are to manufacturers' standards, including emergency lighting, fire alarms and security systems, including door entry (where qualified to do so).
- Re-wire faulty electrical systems, including emergency lighting, heating, alarms, door entry and CCTV (where qualified to do so).
- Ensure good quality workmanship in line with company procedures and standards, comply with relevant building regulation codes and follow H&S requirements.
- Undertake PAT or other Testing (where qualified to do so) on appliances and lighting as part of any planned servicing contract.
- Provide exceptional customer service and respond effectively and efficiently to on-site queries or complaints.
- Possess working knowledge of industry-relevant regulations and qualifications ensuring regularly attending Tool Box Talks and keeping industry-knowledge up to date with CPD (Continuous Professional Development).
- Demonstrate familiarity and knowledge of NICEIC requirements, completion of all relevant Certification (where qualified to do so).
- Present a professional image and adhere to all relevant Company and H&S Regulations when working, including wearing appropriate PPE, uniform, and ensuring Company ID is always visible.
- Any other reasonable duties relevant to an Electrician working in the field on a social housing and local authority reactive repair, maintenance and planned services contract.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Previous electrical works experience including lighting (communal and domestic), wiring, installations, alarm/door entry systems, fire prevention systems maintenance.
- Level 3 Qualified Electrician.
- Qualified to 18th Edition 2391 Testing & Inspection.
- Strong Written and Verbal Communication.
- Excellent organisational skills - good time management.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Presentable, professional technician.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Full valid UK Driving License.
