We're looking for an Electrical Engineer to join a specialist team delivering complex data centre and mission-critical projects across the UK and Europe. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to develop their experience within a technically challenging sector. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and project teams, contributing to projects from early-stage design through to construction, commissioning and completion.
You'll be exposed to a wide range of electrical systems across data centre environments, including critical power, resilient electrical distribution, standby generation, UPS systems and infrastructure supporting high-density computing and AI applications.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support the delivery of electrical engineering designs across data centre and mission-critical projects.
- Develop designs from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction.
- Produce electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, schedules and technical reports.
- Assist with the design of LV distribution, UPS systems, standby generation, busbar systems and critical power infrastructure.
- Support the development and assessment of resilient electrical solutions, including N+1 and 2N configurations.
- Work with senior engineers to coordinate HV and MV requirements with utilities, contractors and specialist suppliers.
- Review technical information and contractor submissions, raising queries and identifying potential design issues.
- Attend site visits, inspections and project meetings where required.
- Support commissioning and testing activities and gain exposure to the delivery phase of projects.
- Work collaboratively with mechanical, structural, architectural and other engineering disciplines to ensure coordinated designs.
- Contribute to the development of technical standards, design processes and best-practice approaches.
- Continue developing your technical knowledge while working towards greater responsibility within the team.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an engineer with a good foundation in electrical building services who is keen to develop their career within the data centre and mission-critical sector. You'll ideally have:
- A degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience within electrical building services design.
- An understanding of electrical distribution, power systems and building services infrastructure.
- Some experience working on projects from concept through to detailed design and delivery.
- Familiarity with UK electrical regulations and standards, particularly BS 7671.
- An understanding of BIM and experience using Revit.
- Experience with electrical design software such as EOM or a similar platform.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
- A proactive approach to learning, problem-solving and developing your technical skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience or knowledge in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Data centre or mission-critical projects.
- HV/MV electrical systems and utility connections.
- UPS and standby generation systems.
- Critical power distribution and resilient electrical design.
- ETAP or other electrical power system analysis software.
- Commissioning or integrated systems testing.
- Working towards professional registration with CIBSE, IET or another relevant professional body.
Why Join?
You'll be joining a specialist engineering environment where you can build your experience on some of the most technically demanding projects in the industry. With increasing demand for data centres, high-performance computing and AI infrastructure, you'll gain exposure to modern electrical technologies and large-scale developments while working alongside experienced professionals who can support your progression.
The role offers a clear opportunity to strengthen your technical skills, take on increasing responsibility and build a long-term career within the mission-critical sector. If you're an electrical engineer looking for a role where you can develop, gain valuable project experience and work on technically challenging projects, we'd like to hear from you.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
