Hours: 40 Hours per week Monday to Friday

Salary: Starting Salary will depend on qualifications, relevant past work experience and level of training required.

Location: This position is a 100% office based.

Introduction to Blue Thorn: This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring or experienced CAD/REVIT/BIM Technicians to join a friendly, progressive company based in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. The role would suit someone who is a quick learner with a positive attitude, you must be technically minded, ideally with a sound working knowledge of REVIT and with experience in Building Services. Blue Thorn Technology is a successful organisation that produces installation and fabrication drawings on major building projects, specialising in Building Services coordination. Due to increased workload, we are seeking additional BIM Technicians to join our existing team.

Job Description/Key Tasks: Working on a variety of different projects, you will report to a Project Manager or Senior Coordinator and your duties will involve:

  • Supporting project managers
  • 2D and 3D drawings
  • Setting up drawings
  • Marking drawings
  • Paper space drawings
  • As built drawings
  • Spools for prefabrication
  • Drawing modifications

Candidate Specification: Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience working in building services or experience in the construction industry would be of an advantage
  • Sound knowledge of ductwork, pipework ventilation and electrical systems
  • Excellent attendance and time keeping is essential
  • A willingness to learn and be part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate they are eligible to live and work in the UK on a full-time basis and be fluent in English. This role would suit: CAD Technicians, Service Fitters, Service Installers, and Graduates. Graduates and Service fitters / Installers may be considered with some working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or REVIT and a desire to move into the coordination aspect of building services.
