Location: Birkenhead (may look to move location in area)

Hours: Monday to Friday, Night Shift (Monday - Wed 6 pm - 6 am, Thursday 6 pm - 10:15 pm) could be additional hours to 6 am on Friday morning

Reporting To: Production Manager / Engineering Manager

Role Overview

We are an Aerospace component manufacturer, looking for an experienced and motivated CNC Turn-Mill Engineer to join our night shift team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating a Nakamura-Tome CNC turn-mill machines or Doosan CNC turn-mill machines to manufacture high-quality precision components in line with production requirements and customer specifications. Programming experience is desirable but not essential, as full programming support may be available. However, candidates capable of creating or modifying CNC programs is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate Nakamura-Tome CNC turn-mill machines.
  • Produce precision-machined components to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
  • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Change tooling and offsets as required.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets and work instructions.
  • Ensure components meet required quality standards and tolerances.
  • Identify and report production, tooling or quality issues.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
  • Complete production documentation accurately and on time.
  • Work efficiently to achieve production targets and deadlines.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience setting and operating CNC turn-mill machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience working to tight tolerances.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to work independently during a night shift operation.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Experience with Nakamura-Tome and/or Doosan CNC turn-mill machines.
  • Ability to create, edit or optimise CNC programs.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc controls.
  • Experience in a precision engineering or subcontract machining environment.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
