Orion is working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing company in London that is looking to recruit an experienced Apprenticeship-Trained Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment where you'll play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, improving performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Please note: Candidates must be apprenticeship trained. Applications from candidates without a completed engineering apprenticeship or the recognised experienced worker equivalent cannot be considered.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and automation faults across production machinery.
  • Respond effectively to breakdowns, minimising downtime and maximising production output.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects across the site.
  • Deliver engineering projects safely, on time and within budget.
  • Support site performance targets, including OEE and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Coach and support operators and fellow engineers to improve technical capability.
  • Drive engineering best practice and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer Requirements

  • Essential: Completed engineering apprenticeship with an Electrical or Mechanical bias.
  • FMCG manufacturing experience is essential.
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or training engineers and operators.
  • Motivated individual with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Time-served electrical apprenticeship supported by relevant industry experience.
  • Alternatively, C&G 2346-03 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification.
  • HNC/HND qualification in Engineering.
