JOB DESCRIPTION: As our Business Development Manager, you'll be responsible for driving new business growth whilst developing an established customer base across the UK. Working with Engineering Managers, procurement professionals and business owners, you'll provide technically engineered water treatment solutions into industrial and process markets.

Initially, your focus will be approximately 70% account management and 30% new business development, building long-term customer relationships and identifying opportunities to grow revenue. As your knowledge of the business develops, you'll gain increasing exposure to commercial strategy, operations and business management as part of a planned succession programme.

You will:

  • Sell technically engineered water treatment and process equipment solutions into industrial markets.
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate commercial agreements and manage opportunities through to completion.
  • Work closely with technical colleagues and manufacturing partners to deliver the right solution for every customer.
  • Contribute towards future business growth through market development, commercial strategy and long-term planning.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: You'll enjoy building long-term customer relationships and be motivated by winning new business. You're commercially aware, naturally curious and keen to develop your career beyond sales, with an interest in understanding how a successful engineering business operates. Previous experience within water treatment would be beneficial, but we're equally interested in candidates from other technical or industrial sales backgrounds who can demonstrate a consultative approach and the ambition to progress.

You’ll also have:

  • A successful track record of generating new business whilst developing existing customer relationships.
  • Experience selling engineered products, capital equipment or technical solutions into industrial markets.
  • The ability to understand technically complex products and recommend the right solution for each customer.

THE COMPANY: For over 20 years we've been designing and manufacturing high-quality engineered water treatment systems for customers across a range of industrial sectors. Our reputation has been built on technical expertise, high-quality engineered solutions and exceptional customer service.

PROSPECTS: This role has been created as part of our long-term succession planning strategy. You'll begin by developing your commercial expertise before gaining exposure to wider business functions including operations, finance, production and strategic planning, creating genuine opportunities to progress into senior leadership within approximately five years.

It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: Technical Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager, Sales Engineer, Key Account Manager, Technical Sales Engineer - Process Engineering, Water Treatment, Water Purification, Filtration, Pumps, Valves, Process Equipment, Industrial Automation, Process Control, Manufacturing Equipment, Industrial Machinery, Utilities, Chemical Processing, OEM, Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing.
