About the Role We are looking for a reliable and motivated Water Plant Operative to join our team. Working in the water treatment plant, this is a key role providing essential support to our packing and yard operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the water treatment plant, ensuring wastewater is treated correctly and that all waste materials are handled in line with environmental and company policies. Accuracy, attention to detail, and a proactive approach are essential in this role.
Main Duties Handle and treat wastewater, applying chemicals as required.
Control and coordinate washer drops in accordance with set schedules.
Remove waste soil into the correct skips and tanks.
Operate and monitor the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant in line with agreed procedures.
Safely operate and control the water treatment plant.
Implement and follow hygiene schedules and cleaning procedures.
Accurately record operational data and complete required documentation.
Carry out routine checks and report any faults, abnormalities, or maintenance requirements.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your manager.
Skills & Experience FLT License essential
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working in a water treatment, wastewater, utilities, manufacturing, recycling, food production, or industrial environment.
Knowledge of chemical handling and safe working practices (desirable).
Previous experience operating process machinery or plant equipment.
Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Strong attention to detail with accurate record-keeping and data entry skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills.
A flexible and reliable approach with a willingness to learn new processes.
Basic IT skills for recording operational information.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience Water treatment or wastewater treatment experience.
IOSH Working Safely or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
Experience operating pumps, valves, tanks, or automated process equipment.
Understanding of environmental legislation relating to waste and wastewater handling.
