Astute's Renewables Team is partnering with a leading renewable energy provider with a strong commitment to professional development and sustainability, to recruit a Senior Project Manager - Onshore Wind Development for its Somerset or London office. This senior role offers the opportunity to lead large-scale onshore wind and renewable energy projects from inception through planning consent, discharge of conditions and securing all necessary permits and consents, through to shovel-ready status ahead of construction.

Responsibilities and duties:
- Lead onshore wind development projects from site identification and feasibility through to planning consent, discharge of conditions and construction readiness.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary internal teams and external consultants across planning, environmental, engineering, land, legal, grid, PR and community engagement.
- Manage planning applications, variations, environmental assessments and associated consent documentation, ensuring projects progress in line with planning policy and legislative requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, local authorities, communities and key stakeholders, while supporting the management of land rights and agreements.
- Manage project budgets, resources and programmes, ensuring projects remain commercially and operationally on track.
- Oversee site visits, intrusive surveys and other development activities in line with health and safety requirements.
- Secure the additional consents, permits and planning condition discharges required before construction can commence.
- Maintain project programmes, risk registers, action trackers and governance reporting, providing clear visibility of progress, risks, constraints and key milestones.
- Provide leadership, line management and support to Project Managers within the wider development team.
- Keep up to date with changing regulatory and industry requirements, ensuring grid connection delivery remains compliant and aligned with wider project objectives.
Professional qualifications:
- Recognised Project Management qualification, such as APM, or equivalent proven project management experience.
- Proven experience managing onshore wind development projects within a renewable energy developer, energy business or consultancy.
- Proven experience taking onshore wind projects through the planning and consent process.
- Strong knowledge of the wider onshore wind development lifecycle, including feasibility, planning, environmental, land, grid and stakeholder requirements.
- A relevant qualification or proven experience in renewable energy, planning, environmental disciplines, engineering or a related field would be beneficial.
Personal skills:
- Experienced in managing complex renewable energy projects and multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- A strong communicator and collaborative leader, confident working with internal teams, consultants, landowners, local authorities and other stakeholders.
- Commercially aware, with strong programme, budget, risk and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical, highly organised and detail-focused, with a proactive approach to resolving challenges and delivering successful project outcomes.
